Vaping is Illegal

Vaping is, and remains, strictly illegal in Thailand in 2026. Possessing, using, buying, or importing e-cigarettes, liquids, and related devices is prohibited under a 2014 ban, with recent 2025/2026 crackdowns resulting in fines (often 30,000+ baht), confiscation of goods, and potential jail time of up to 10 years.

  • Strict Enforcement: The ban applies to both foreigners and Thai citizens.
  • What is Banned: All forms of e-cigarettes, vape pens, e-liquids, and heat-not-burn products like IQOS are prohibited.
  • Penalties: Police actively fine users on the spot. Penalties can include, but are not limited to, heavy fines, confiscation of items, and imprisonment, with some, or deportation.
  • Advice for Travelers: Do not bring any vaping equipment into Thailand, and do not purchase or use it while in the country, even if you see locals doing so.

The crackdown in 2025/2026 has been significant, with police raids on shops and increased seizures of vaping products.
