Living in Thailand, there are people that share realistically what is going on and there are those that try to sensationalize everything for clicks to earn money to stay in Thailand.
So, there is a ton of misinformation.
In rural Isaan, the expats that live here pretty much tell it the way it is.
Not much to exaggerate and no one is trying to get rich being a Youtuber.
That being said, the Isaan experience can be different for each and every expat that lives here.
Living in Thailand is what you make it for yourself, what requirements do you have personally and whether or not you can fit into a very rural, minimal lifestyle.
There isn’t too many things going on in Isaan worthy of a Youtube channel.
You are not going to get a million subscribers.
The truth is there will be few people interesting in seeing what real life in Isaan is all about.
And that is ok, because rural Thailand living is not for everyone.
If you need to replicate your western life in Thailand, Isaan is not going to be the place for you.
If you can integrate into a rural Thai environment, with no need for western socializing or material things, Isaan is the place to be.
I have no qualms about living in rural Isaan.
Where I live is full of nature, nature sounds, greenery, and void of any problems you find in Thai cities or tourists areas.
There is nothing stopping me from visiting a tourist area, however, I prefer not to live right in the middle of the madness every single day the rest of my life.
The peace and quiet of Isaan works just fine for my home base.
Locals here love foreigners and are more than willing to help you with anything you need.
It lets you know humanity is still alive.
Finding people on social media that tell the entire truth is how you learn if a certain area is right for you.
Making decisions with the facts, not some 20 year old that claims you can live in Bangkok for US $500.00 a month.
There is nothing to sensationalize here, that is for sure.
Telling the truth so others can learn first hand is the right thing to do.
