What’s in the Shopping Cart?

Today we had a chance to go grocery shopping at Makro in Khon Kaen.

This Makro is quite a bit nicer than the one closer to us in Chum Phae.

I also noticed in the big city, there is more assortment for western foods, however, not much more.

So what is in the shopping cart?

Ground pork, pork chops, ribs, chicken breasts, chicken, ham, bacon, dinner rolls, French bread, taco seasoning and shells, Chicken strips, Chicken McNuggets, Rotisserie Chicken, Sour Cream, Philadelphia Creme Cheese, Peanut Butter, Coffee Mate, Doritos 6 Pack, Cheetos 6 Pack, Milk, Paper Towels, A pump to blow up inflatables, cooking sauces, spaghetti sauce (3), Frozen Lychees, candy, real head of lettuce, tomatoes, celery, cooking sauces, and a few other things.

Groceries will last at least 3 weeks.

The bill was 5,800 thai baht or US $175.00. That is for 3 weeks of food/meals, for 3 people.

It breaks down to around US $60 a week for groceries for 3 people and this is high because of all the western things you can see in the shopping cart list.

If you ate strictly Thai food in the village, one week (3 meals a day) would only cost you US $21.
