Folks in my village are poor and are looking for any way to make money.
Even a little bit of money.
This has created a micro-economy where everyone is trying to sell something.
People use what ever savings they have to get a business going with a dream and hope of making money everyday.
Unfortunately for most, this does not happen.
We have an over-supply of sellers in the village, many selling the exact same things, and a limited number of buyers.
If you are trying to sell, they you are not buying from someone else.
It is hard to see these vendors sitting there all day with zero sales.
A lack of education and business acumen, combined with no customers is dooming these local vendors.
They have yet to figure out there are NO buyers and continue to sit there day after day with no sales while the inventory, like food, goes to waste.
As much as we support our neighborhood vendors, we cannot support all of them.
It is a desperate financial situation for most here in the village.
Only during crop harvesting season do they have any money at all.
Even then, many have borrowed so much waiting for their crop money that it all goes to paying their debt.
