Reselling is NOT an Option

If you live in rural Thailand and you are thinking about making money buying products and reselling, I would say do not do that.

The main reason is there are tons of sellers, all selling the same products and they push the price right down to unprofitable.

The second issue, is there is such a lack of customers, you can never recoup the cost of your original inventory.

The inventory will sit and sit and sit.

I recently saw a vendor at the local market with over 1,000 mobile phone cases for sale.

That is an investment in inventory.

I did not see them have 1 customer when I was there.

The same thing with the clothes vendors in the markets.

There is always multiple vendors with one willing to sell for less than the next guy.

Having 1,000’s of items and only selling 3 or 4 per day, you are never going to recoup your cost of inventory.

Coffee stands?

We have 100 in the village.

Many never even have 1 customer.

Too many coffee stands and not enough customers who can afford their drinks.

So if you are thinking of making money reselling, it is not a good idea.

There are simply not enough customers that have money to spend to allow the 100’s, if not 1,000’s of sellers, to turn over their inventory and make a profit.

Sad but true and many locals will think just because they start a business reselling, that they will make money.

The truth is they will not.
